Science
Science Instruction K-12
At Phoenix, we believe in a hands-on, minds-on approach to science instruction. Students will engage in laboratory experiences, centers, direct instruction as well as independent study. We follow Ohio's Learning Standards for Science. Click below to see the standards as well as the recently adopted Model Curriculum.
Science Instruction K-4
In K-4, science is taught in conjunction with Core Knowledge. The students will also be exposed to Science A-Z as well as other hands-on science activities.
Science Instruction 5-8
In 5-8, we utilize Pearson Interactive Science. Each student has their own individual interactive student workbook to use during instruction. Workbooks include reading passages, comprehension questions, tips and reading strategies, paper and pencil labs, and hands-on laboratory activities.
In 5th grade and 8th grade, students will take the Science AIR Test in May of each school year. For resources to help your child prepare for their Science AIR Test, please click here.
